§ 102-32. Definitions.

The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

American National Standards Institute (ANSI) means the private, non-profit organization that administers and coordinates the standardization and conformity assessment system. For the purposes of this article, ANSI references relate to the American National Standard for Tree Care Operations, Trees, Shrubs, and Other Woody Plant Maintenance Standard Practices (ANSI A300-2001, as amended) which is incorporated herein by reference.

Building includes the construction, erection, or placement of any single-family dwelling or other structure which does not involve site plan approval, and any construction for which a building permit is required under the city's building code when this Code [article] does not require site plan approval.

Development for purposes of this Code [article] shall be defined as that term is defined in F.S. § 380.04, as amended.

Diameter at breast height means the diameter as measured in inches at four feet six inches above original grade.

Land clearing includes, but is not limited to the clearing, cutting, uprooting, or removal of any tree which does not involve any building or development.

Protected tree shall include the plant species as set forth in Appendix A and which are a minimum diameter of four inches at breast height.
